"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thought nor measure words, but pouring out them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." - Shoshone

Arcosanti - Suburban sprawl, spreading across the landscape, causes enormous waste, frustration and long-term costs by depleting land and resources. Dependancy on the automobile intensifies these problems, while increasing pollution, congestion, and social isolation. Arcosanti hopes to address these issues by building a three-dimensional, pedestrian-oriented city. Because this plan eliminates suburban sprawl, both the urban and natural environments should keep their integrity and thrive.

Asatru Folk Assembly - The Asatru Folk Assembly has a mission: to call the sons and daughters of Europe back to their native spirituality and to the tribes which are their birthright.

All indigenous or "pagan" religions spring from the soul of a particular people. The religion of the Sioux comes from the depths of the collective Sioux experience - not just as it is today, but as it has been from the beginning. The Sioux religion is not separable from the people, and has no meaning apart from them. The same may be said of indigenous African religions, the tribal religions of Asia - and the native religions of Europe, as well.

Men and women of European descent were torn from the bosoms of their tribes more than a thousand years ago. The Alemanni, the Cherusci, and the Iceni are no more. The man and woman on the street have forgotten that we were as tribal as the Comanche, the Zulu, and the Mandingo. This ignorance, however, has not kept us from suffering from the loss of our ancient ways. It is time to rebuild the tribal structures that nurtured us for thousands of years, time to find community with kin.

Dragonvale - Have you ever wanted to wake up in the morning without stress, and eager to start the day, and to really enjoy the way you make a living? Do you want to live a life full of magic, wonder, joy?

If you've said yes to any or all of these questions, then perhaps Dragonvale is what you seek.

Dragonvale is a dream to create a self-sufficient, sustainable community that earns its living by teaching through entertainment. Our goal is to set up our community to be a full-time fantasy/celtic village, with its own architecture, music, and culture. Several times a year, we will hold large festivals which are open to the public and will operate in like a Renaissance Faire, though the detail and participation will be much greater.

So if you are interested in creating a life instead of just earning a living, you should read on.

Findhorn Foundation, The - The Findhorn Foundation is at the heart of an international community based on spiritual values. It is a place where daily life becomes active service through awareness of ourselves, each other, nature, our environment and our times.

The Findhorn Foundation's origins are in the community established in 1962 by Peter and Eileen Caddy and Dorothy Maclean in a caravan park near the seaside village of Findhorn, Morayshire, in northeast Scotland. They did not intend to start a community here, but were brought together as part of their individual commitment to follow God's will. Each of the founders had followed a disciplined spiritual path for a number of years before continuing their work together at Findhorn.

Milagro/Cohousing Community - The site plan integrates many considerations from economics to ecology to marketing strategy. The magnificent site commands a setting with strong connections to nature and beautiful views of the Catalina and Tucson mountains and the city to the east. The unit sizing and locations are responsive to appropriate appraisal techniques, in response to financing needs. Solar orientation is a primary consideration, so that the sun can be used wisely to reduce energy expenses and facilitate landscape growth. Creating a strong sense of community, for mutually-supportive relationships, is also a primary goal.

Los Angeles EcoVillage - Why an ecovillage in Los Angeles? As Los Angeles continues to expand to accommodate ever larger and more diverse populations, how can we achieve a decent standard of living without sacrificing a better quality of life? What will be the response of political and grass roots leadership as it begins to deeply understand the relationships among environmental, social and economic degradation? How will communities of need respond as their funding gaps grow ever larger? And as more people in less developed areas worldwide aspire to Los Angeles lifestyles, what responsibility will our city take to model living patterns in balance with the planet's life support systems? The L.A. Eco-Village seeks to address these complex issues by demonstrating a different way of being in our city.

Los Horcones: Walden Two - In order to really understand Los Horcones(1) community (which is a very small culture) you do not only need to read about it but also to live and participate in it. What you can read in our home page, is just a very brief description of what Los Horcones community is. It will give you an idea of its supramacrocontingencies(2) or cultural practices (our form of government, family, education, economy, etc.).

(1) The word "horcones" in our name, is the plural of "horcon"which is a bifurcated tree trunk . We use "horcones" as pillars in our buildings.

(2) The behavioral technical term for "cultural practices" is "supramacrocontingency".

Rewild.org - We are forming an intentional community focused on rewilding. Our passion lies in living simply and forming a close, unmediated relationship with the Earth. This will be a garden, pet, livestock, drug, alcohol & electricity-free environment. We want to find a piece of land, live on it with a group of people and become a clan of hunter/gatherers. We want to know if it's still possible to get there in a single lifetime. We want to see if we've been hypnotized for too long. It is our goal to eventually sustain ourselves entirely (food, clothing shelter, tools) with materials we harvest from the wild. We want others with the same desires and visions to join us. We don't want this project to be solely "ours".

The school educates and develops the initiate in both the personal and archetypal realms. This makes intuition, insight, clarity and wisdom available. Through this education, both the literal and symbolic realms become more accessible.
